We are a happily retired Army family living in North Carolina in a cottage on an island off the coast AND on the top of a mountain in a cabin over looking the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Despite my lackluster blogging skills, I’m happy to be back again this year sharing our kitchen at Idlehour, our little mountain cabin!
The name Idlehour came from the book A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. |
“Lola” our cow friend, the only cow you’ll find in our kitchen as we maintain a plant based life style. |

It was a snowy day when I took these photos…it’s a great view of the mountains from this window I really wish I could have captured it! |
I have a life long habit of wanting to fill in empty spaces but I’ve been trying to adopt a life of simplicity and that’s the look I was going for when decorating this kitchen. |
My favorite little St. Nick purchased in Stuttgart, Germany when we were stationed there. He fills my heart with happy memories every year when I unwrap him! |
The downstairs is mostly all shiplap painted White Dove. It was a new build but we were lucky to find! |
Foccacia from a local bakery, best I’ve ever had and I lived in Italy for four years! |
Christmas Crunch…melt a bag of white chocolate chips, fold melted chocolate into 1 1/2 cups of each of these ingredients and spread on wax paper to cool. |
