Where it all began…

My blog, Quarters One, began when we were stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas. My husband was the commanding general of the First Infantry Division and we had the honor of living in the commander's quarters known as Quarters One. Quarters One is a 9,000 square foot home built in 1887. At the time of construction it overlooked the cavalry school and training grounds on Fort Riley. Though we called it home, it seemed very mysterious to everyone else. So, with all of it's ghosts and charm, I decided to share the quarters and our lives inside in a blog called "Quarters One: My Life in the Commanding General's Quarters." We have picked up and moved many times in the passing years but we will always cherish our time in Fort Riley and Quarters One.
